ClearSpan Completes Project for Kingsford Charcoal
December 27, 2016
This morning ClearSpan™ Fabric Structures, the industry-leading manufacturer of tension fabric building, announced they have completed a 250’ Wide Hercules Truss Arch Building for Kingsford Products Company in Summer Shade, Kentucky. With an experienced crew and smooth process, ClearSpan was able to get this project done with time to spare.
Kingsford has been one of the country’s largest producers of charcoal since the 1920s. Each day the company gets truckloads of wood chips and sawdust, which is required for making charcoal. Charcoal is made by compressing wood and removing the oxygen with high temperatures. Kingsford needed a building that could shelter their large amounts of raw materials from inclement weather, like snow and rain. If they covered the wood, Kingsford knew it could bring down the wood’s moisture and oxygen content faster, and it would allow them to use less fuel in the heating process.
With daily deliveries, the company needed a large structure that they could easily store and maneuver in. This is why Kingsford decided to purchase a 250’ wide Hercules Truss Arch Building. With no interior support beams, Kingsford has the maximum amount of usable space for the wood chip and saw dust storage. They can also easily operate and transport materials within the structure.
Their ClearSpan structure features a climate-sensitive fabric cover that keeps the building dry and up to 20° cooler in the summer and 20° warmer in the winter. This allows Kingsford to use the ClearSpan structure year-round without taking on exorbitant utilities costs.
ClearSpan takes pride in supplying companies as renowned as Kingsford with high-quality buildings. ClearSpan stands by their fabric structures with 50 year warranties on the frame and 20 year warranties on the fabric cover, so Kingsford will get decades of use out of their new structure.
