Southwind RAS, LLC
Challenge – Lack of covered work space
Solution – Hercules Truss Arch Building
Size – 83′ wide x 115′ long
Application – Processing facility
Southwind RAS, LLC provides the disposal customer with a low-cost, convenient solution to recycling asphalt roofing shingles. The company takes in these shingles, and sorts and processes them to be used in hot mix asphalt paving. Manager Matt Vondra says, “Our processing equipment was located outside, exposed to the elements. Employees were complaining about the working conditions and management foresaw that providing a building for processing would be good for future company growth.”
After researching online and comparing costs, a ClearSpan Hercules Truss Arch Building became the best choice. Vondra adds, “The durability of the structure was a major deciding factor for us.” Manufactured from triple-galvanized structural steel, ClearSpan building frames will withstand harsh environments and are engineered to local building codes.
Vondra explains, “The building is working out very well. Our employees think it’s much nicer than working out in the elements.” He continues, “Another benefit for us was that the town did not require full HVAC or fire improvements to the structure because it can be considered temporary, which allowed us to save money.”
